Hi, my name is María Fernanda Gil Leyva Villa, I was born and raised in Mexico city. I have a college degree on Actuarial Sciences and a master's degree on Mathematical Sciences from UNAM. I also graduated with a PhD on Statistics and Probability from UNAM where I worked under the direction of Ramses Mena. Afterwards I was a postdoctoral fellow at Bocconi University and University of Turin where I worked with Antonio Lijoi, Igor Prünster and Pierpaolo De Blasi. Currently, I am an associate reasercher in the Department of Probability and Statistics at IIMAS-UNAM.

Non Academic Interests

In addition to mathematics I also love sports and art. I practiced diving when I was younger and proudly represented Mexico and UNAM in international competitions. Now I practice parkour, climbing and I recently started rollerskating. My other hobbies are art related, I enjoy painting and playing piano very much.
